Maximum safety for food processing and packaging
TECAMID 6 ID blue expands detectable plastics portfolio
As food manufacturers must be in a position to ensure the freedom of their end products from any form of contamination at all times, the detection of foreign bodies during the manufacturing process plays a key role.
With its semi-finished product “TECAMID 6 ID blue”, Ensinger has now extended its range of special plastics for the food industry. Like other materials from its ID product line, the new polyamide product comes with a detectable filler. If a component made of this material should be damaged during the production process, any fragments present can be rapidly identified using metal detectors within the framework of standardized process controls. The blue colouration of the material also provides the assurance of easy optical detection.
Fields of application
Ensinger’s semi-finished product range now includes three different ID materials, each of which cover different application areas in the food industry:
- TECAPEEK ID blue has the highest strength of the three products within this product group. This material also offers the benefit of excellent chemical resistance and is capable of withstanding the highest thermal loads.
- The product TECAFORM AH ID, already established in the marketplace, offers very high dimensional stability, making it suitable for precision component production. Its high level of resistance to solvents and its low moisture absorption make this material ideally suited for wide-ranging applications in the food industry.
- In comparison to the other two detectable materials, the newly launched TECAMID 6 ID blue material is characterized by significantly higher toughness, further minimizing the risk of material fracture.
Rods and sheets in these materials are available in a wide selection of measurements. All the materials of the ID series naturally comply with the strict requirements of the food industry and are migration tested to EU Regulation no. 10/2011. The raw materials used also fulfil FDA requirements.
In plant and equipment used to process and package foods, many machine components are already capable of being replaced by ID plastics. The fields of application are widely varied – from dairy technology through meat processing to bakery technology. In every field of application, the weight reduction made possible by using these materials equates to tangible energy and cost savings.
The Ensinger group is engaged in the development, manufacture and sale of compounds, semi-finished materials, profiles and technical parts made of engineering and high performance plastics through extrusion, machining and injection moulding. With a total of 2,100 employees at 27 locations, the family-owned enterprise is represented worldwide in all major industrial regions with manufacturing facilities or sales offices.
TECAMID 6 ID blue is already the third detectable material to join the Ensinger semi-finished product portfolio.
The number of plant and component manufacturers relying on technical plastics is growing all the time.
The detectable material TECAMID 6 ID blue helps to enhance safety in food production.
